Scott Minos
Scott Minos has worked in various positions for the United States Department of Energy (DOE) since 1986. He currently is employed as a Senior Policy and Communications Specialist for the DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). He is responsible for developing and compliance with key communication elements that promote DOE’s domestic and international programs relating to alternative and renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, energy conservation, greenhouse gases and climate change, carbon sequestration, electric transmission, and advanced energy sciences.
Scott’s main focus has been on advanced vehicle technologies and alternative transportation fuels. He has worked extensively on a variety of DOE laboratory programs, and various DOE initiatives including Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE), EcoCAR, Challenge X, and Future Truck collegiate automotive engineering competitions, and the biannual Solar Decathlon collegiate building and energy engineering competition. Scott has also traveled throughout Africa and Asia to support the Department's Renewables for Sustainable Village Power program that brings electric power to remote areas of the developing world. Scott received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Florida State University in 1984, his Masters of Arts in Public Policy and Political Theory from Johns Hopkins University’s Institute for Policy Studies at the School for Advanced International Studies in 1988, and his Masters in Public Administration from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School in 1993. All graduate work was focused on a variety of issues related to communication and propaganda, mainly regarding energy and environmental information.
Prior to his work at the DOE, Scott worked for United States Senator Paula Hawkins (R-FL, 1984-1986), a Member of the Florida House of Representatives, as well as being a radio personality. Scott is also currently employed as a contract performer for the Washington National Opera and the Washington Chorus.
