American Institute of Architects: 2010 Design Awards

The Birmingham Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Design Awards exist to recognize excellence in architectural design by member architects. These awards increase awareness of outstanding architecture and honors those architects, clients, consultants and contractors who work together to improve the built environment. In doing so, the general quality of architectural practice is elevated and the public is apprised of the value of the practice of architecture.

This year the jury was held in Miami, Florida in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects National Convention. There was a jury of five qualied peers who reviewed, contemplated and discussed each entry. The Award of Merit is presented to a project that meets the jury’s requirements for design excellence. Award recognition is based on the success with which the project has met jury criteria.

The Honor Award is the highest level of recognition that the AIA Birmingham bestows to firms for projects displaying exemplary design exceeding the criteria set forth by the jury.
