High Performance Hot Water Systems in Green Buildings

More About the Topic

What is the most energy, water and time efficient way to install a hot water distribution system for a given floor plan? How does the choice of water heater impact overall system performance? When should you install water heaters in multiple locations? Where is it appropriate to use drain water heat recovery? How do the faucets, showers and appliances interact with the rest of the system?

Participants in this session will:
1.    Learn what people want from their hot water systems.
2.    Compare the performance of several hot water distribution systems including trunk and branch, recirculation, manifold (home run or parallel pipe) and Structured Plumbing®.
3.    Learn how to deliver hot water to every fixture, wasting less than one cup of water while waiting for the hot water to arrive, and wasting less energy than would have been wasted running the water down the drain.
4.    Learn how to select a high performance water heater that is both water and energy efficient.
5.    Understand the benefits and applications of drain water heat recovery systems.
