Duane Wood has experience in all aspects of commercial real estate development, leasing and sales. His 24 years of Real Estate knowledge includes experience with multiple product types (office, industrial, retail and multi-family) and hands on work in varied disciplines including building and land development, master planning, investment sales, leasing and facilities / property management. Duane has directed the pursuit, acquisition and implementation of development opportunities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas for office, industrial and mixed-use projects preparing business plans and strategies for each, tracking key trends and issues impacting each, and providing general oversight of project development. In addition to his owner/landlord experience, Duane spent two years in corporate Real Estate managing a group of approximately 500 owned and leased facilities for a Fortune 200 company. Over his career, Duane has developed more than 9 million square feet of space, bought and sold more than 2,000 acres of land for development of master planned mixed-use and business park projects, negotiated over 300 leases for more than 12.5 million square feet of space and has directed over $1 billion of investment in commercial real estate. Duane holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from The Georgia Institute of Technology and a MBA in Finance from Georgia State University.
Keith Hornsby has over 25 years of construction experience as both the project manager and the general contractor’s project manager and has successfully managed and completed several million square feet of office, distribution, high-rise residential and retail projects in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Texas and the Carolinas. Keith’s experience includes working closely with the design team and the owner through the design, pre-construction and development stages. Keith has invaluable experience as the single point of contact for a project team and has experience in estimating, scheduling, manpower loading, project budgeting, coordinating and administrating subcontracts, quality control, material procurement and project close-out to ensure customer satisfaction. Keith is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science, Building Construction.

Learn about the process involved in the design-build development of the recently completed 600,000 SF Birmingham Social Security Center. The developer originally set a goal of achieving LEED Certification for the project, but was able to deliver a Silver LEED Certification to its clients, General Services Administration and Social Security Administration. Duane Wood and Keith Hornsby of RDW Companies, Inc. will share with you the process that was followed through the design-build development of the project to achieve the Silver LEED certification. Some of the highlights of the project that will be discussed includes the large “Green” roof, the elaborate rainwater collection system, site remediation, daylight harvesting and many other elements that enhance the energy efficiency of the building and improves the users overall satisfaction with the building.
